Welcome Back To School

 

The staff at Prospect Lake are busy preparing for a wonderful year of learning.  Our custodial staff has everything shiny and clean for our start up.  We are excited to welcome our students and families to a new school year.  A warm welcome to our new families who are joining us and to our Kindergarten families.  Here are some reminders for the first few days of school and some updates.

CONSTRUCTION, SCHOOL BUS, & SHUTTLE SERVICE

As many of you know, the construction in front of the school on Prospect Lake Road and West Saanich Road is still in progress.  The lower parking lot is also still under construction.  With road closures, we will continue to use alternative transportation for students.  There is no access or parking at the school for drop off and pick ups until further notice. 

  1. Shuttle:- to/from Prospect Lake Community Center (no registration needed):
  • AM shuttle begins at 8:10 until 8:50 or until all students are transported
  • PM shuttle begins at 2:48 until 3:10 or until all students are transported.  
  1. School bus:- *** you must be registered to ride the bus***  If you have not registered to use the school bus service click following link  -   Transportation | Saanich Schools.  Please communicate with your child which afternoon bus they will be riding # 21 or #16

 Note:  On Tuesday Sept 6 shuttle will run from 10:15 until 10:35 or until all students are transported. Buses will be running to accommodate the early dismissal.

  1. Walk/bike:- accompanied by an adult (with caution as there is active construction)

 

START UP INFORMATION 

Students will return to last year’s classroom for Sept 6 and 7.  New students will be placed in an age appropriate classroom.  

We hope to have students move to their 2022/23 classrooms by Thursday Sept 8.  Staff will finalize attendance, new enrollments and class placements prior to placing students into new classes.  Class placement has been determined in a very careful and thoughtful manner.   We appreciate your understanding and patience.  We will make every effort to have students in their new classes as soon as possible. 

TUESDAY SEPT 6  8:40-10:15 (grade 1 - 5)

  • Returning students:  Please meet at last year's classroom entry location at 8:35 bell
  • No school supplies or lunch/snack needed today  
  • New students: Please meet at the office at the 8:35 bell and we will welcome you to the school and place you in a grade appropriate class. At dismissal 10:15 come back to the office and an adult will take you to the bus or shuttle line up or meet your parent
  • 10 :15 Dismissal -  Students will be dismissed to the shuttle line up  OR bus line up (BUS 16 or BUS 21) OR outside door if meeting an adult to accompany you home

WEDNESDAY  SEPT 7 (all students)

Grades 1 - 5

  • Full day  8:40 - 2:48
  • Be sure to pack a nutritious lunch and snack
  • No school supplies needed from home today

Kindergarten students 

  • All families should have received a gradual entry schedule for their first week of school.  Below is a copy of the schedule for your convenience.
  • Due to construction,  ALL Kindergarten families will meet at Prospect Lake Community Hall to meet teachers on Sept 7 at their assigned time. The hall is located at 5358 Sparton Rd. Victoria.

  • SEPT 7th  - 9:10 to 10:40 
  • SEPT 8th  - 11:40 to 1:10 
  • SEPT 9th -  9:10 to 11:40 
  • SEPT 12th - 8:40 to 1:00 
  • SEPT 13th  -  8:40 to 1:00
  • SEPT 14th  - 8:40 – 2:48   

Children whose last name begins with I - Z 

  • SEPT 7th  - 11:40 to 1:10 
  • SEPT 8th  - 9:10 to 10:40 
  • SEPT 9th -  12:40 to 2:30 
  • SEPT 12th - 8:40 to 1:00 
  • SEPT 13th  -  8:40 to 1:00 
  • SEPT 14th  - 8:40 to 2:48

We have a new website.  Unlike the previous website a subscription option is not offered, therefore, there will no longer be “new post” notifications.  Please check our website for updates and current events.


It is important that the office has updated parent email addresses for the delivery of important and/or urgent messages.
